Sunshine Coast Council have just announced new incentives for new bars, theatres, nightclubs, or hotels in the Nambour Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP).
Development application and infrastructure fees halved
The announcement includes the halving of development application fees for bars, theatres, nightclubs, or hotels in the Nambour Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP).
Council have also halved the infrastructure charges for developments in the area.
This means that for a 200sqm nightclub, for instance, the savings could be in the vicinity of $38,400. Not chump change.
The Nambour SEP was created to give operators greater certainty about their operating conditions, especially music venues.
For the Nambour SEP, it means venues are exempt from the amplified music noise requirements of the Queensland Government’s liquor licensing laws.
The SEP includes two buffer zones to protect surrounding neighbours from sound spill.
Time and dollar limits apply
The incentives are in place until June 2025 but are limited to a maximum of $10 million.
Incentive approvals are also granted on a first-in, first-served basis, so if you have been eyeing an opportunity in the Nambour SEP, it’s time to make your move.

I contacted Russell in distress regarding a grey area regarding the usage of a commercial building I was buying. He acted asap in reviewing Town Planning documents and preparing a submission to Council Officers. Within 2 days he had done all this and met with Council to provide me with a clear path and resolution to my concerns. His communication and support were above and beyond. I highly recommend Russell and RG Strategic.

Second time we have engaged RG strategic for town planning services at Makepeace Island. What a great team to work with. Amazing customer service, going above and beyond to assist us. Always have achieved the desired outcome for us. Would highly recommend this company.

Russell assisted us through our applications for a Liquor Licence and a Food Licence. 2 things we could "set and forget" and not worry about, allowing us to concentrate on other important issues to get the business up and running. These were completed with minimal fuss and within our timelines.

RG Strategic came to our rescue. After initially engaging another service to assist with our siting variation we received little to no information or support from them and had our application rejected by council. We were left feeling extremely frustrated and let down by the other service. A friend of ours recommended RG Strategic & we are honestly so fortunate that she did. From our first point of contact with Maree we found her extremely professional & knowledgeable leaving us feeling confident & assured. Maree explained everything and nothing was ever too hard. She went above & beyond to problem solve & produce a thorough & detailed siting variation application which shortly after submission was approved by council. We are extremely grateful for Maree, Russell & the team for providing such a professional & quality local service. Thankyou.
